How often do we think about the people ageing around us. Our parents, friends, partners, family - how are they ageing? Do you want to age like those around you?

As we age we hope to be able to perform, not only our daily activities, but the things that keep us fit and bring pleasure and excitement into our lives.

Book Your Spinal Evaluation With Us

In one study involving 766 people with Adult Spinal Deformity (ASD) they found that problems like changes in spinal curves, such as scoliosis and increase mid-back curve, had a greater impact on their quality of life as compared to people with chronic diseases. 1

Research by Kato et al. in the American Journal of Geriatrics2 showed that when studying the side curve of 1353 elderly, they found that an increase of the side curve or a forward inclination, creating a ‘hunch back’, was linked with and increase mortality rate. Some of the reasons for this increase rate was an increase stress on the lungs and an increase falls rate.

Falls Risk Reduced with Elderly Chiropractic Care

One of the big stresses with the ageing living on their own is falls risks. It is well documented that when the elderly fracture a hip, then 50% will die in twelve months.

In one study Kelly Holt said3,
“12 weeks of chiropractic care has resulted in improvements in some factors that are important for falls risk (sensory and motor function), as well as improvement in the physical component of quality of life in a group of older adult patients.

Those receiving chiropractic care, compared to those that didn’t receive care “improved significantly in ankle joint position sense error.” This shows a potential impact of chiropractic care on proprioception, or the brain’s ability to know where the body is in space. Knowing where are body is positioned helps to significantly reduced falls risk.
