5 ways to get MOVING in your DAY
Let’s get moving!
We are talking 5 ways you can get more MOVEMENT in your day.
Dr. Lisa and Dr. Britt from Errol Street Chiropractic centre will explore the following ways to help get you fitter:
- Morning/evening walks
A great way to start the day is to get outside and walk. Walking the dog in the morning or evening is wonderful exercise for both of you. If you have children, then get them away from the TV or hand held devices and play outside. Bikes, scooters, skipping ropes or frisbees are fun to use and get the whole family involved.
2. Set a challenge
Writing down your movement/exercise goals helps to make your intentions translate into reality. Devices such are the Garmin, Fitbit or even your phone will have an app to help keep track of what you are doing, how many steps you make in a day and record it. Find a friend who would like to move more and exercise together – it helps to keep both parties more accountable.
3. Park further from your destination
Give yourself a few extra minutes in the morning and/or evening to walk to your tram, bus or train. Park 1-3 stops before your normal public transport spot and walk! Easy.
4. Take the stairs
Ladies, if you wear heels to work then keep a pair of runners at work so you can change into them. That way both ladies and gentlemen can walk up and down stairs instead of taking the elevator all the time. Excellent for cardiovascular fitness.
5. Get outside at lunch
Take a walk at lunch time before you eat. This will help to energise you and help set you up for the rest of the day in the office. Often people find that having a few minutes, even 15 minutes away from the desk, helps to also solve problems that may have caused frustration in the morning. Give it a go. Too often people sit at their desk and eat lunch while working. How about you getting outside and take in some natural light and if possible, walk near trees or in parks. This will help you to relax and enjoy the day more.
