Why I Chose Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP)?
Looking Beyond Symptom Relief
Over 20 years ago, I found myself increasingly frustrated as a chiropractor. In this video, I discuss why I chose Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) as a addition to my chiropractic practice.
Many patients were feeling better with chiropractic care. Their pain reduced, movement improved, and they were functioning better in daily life.
But when I reviewed follow-up X-rays down the track, something didn’t always make sense.
Sometimes spinal alignment improved significantly.
Sometimes it improved only slightly.
And sometimes it hadn’t changed much at all.
I realised I wanted more certainty and consistency in the structural changes we were trying to achieve.
That search led me to Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP).
Discovering Chiropractic BioPhysics®
At the time, I already knew about CBP and the work of Donald Harrison, the founder of Chiropractic BioPhysics®, along with his son, Deed Harrison, who was teaching in Australia occasionally.
But becoming certified locally would likely have taken me more than a decade.
I wanted to fully understand the method sooner.
So I travelled to Boise, Idaho in the United States to complete my certification training directly through CBP.
It was a complete game changer for me professionally.
Why CBP Stood Out
What attracted me most to Chiropractic BioPhysics® was the research.
CBP is recognised as one of the most researched approaches in chiropractic for:
- posture correction
- spinal curve rehabilitation
- forward head posture
- cervical lordosis restoration
- spinal alignment improvement
Rather than focusing only on temporary symptom relief, CBP aims to improve the structural alignment of the spine where clinically appropriate.
For me, this made sense.
Because better spinal alignment often means:
- reduced abnormal stress on joints and discs
- improved posture and movement patterns
- less long-term strain on the spine
- improved spinal stability and function
- reduced likelihood of recurring flare-ups
Why Post X-Rays Matter
One of the most exciting moments in practice is reviewing progress X-rays.
I often joke that I “jump up and down” when I see them.
Because not only is the patient often feeling significantly better – but we can also see measurable structural changes in the spine.
That’s incredibly rewarding.
When spinal alignment improves:
- stress and strain on tissues can reduce
- movement often becomes more balanced
- the body may function more efficiently
- and long-term spinal loading may improve
This is why posture-focused care can be so important.
Not Everyone Is a Candidate for CBP
CBP is not appropriate for every patient.
At Errol Street Chiropractic Centre, we perform detailed assessments to determine whether spinal rehabilitation and CBP-informed care may be suitable.
Assessments may include:
- posture analysis
- spinal examination
- neurological testing
- X-rays where clinically appropriate
This allows us to tailor care to the individual.
A Passion for the Future of CBP in Australia
Unfortunately, there are still only a small number of chiropractors trained in Chiropractic BioPhysics® in Australia.
That’s why I’m incredibly proud that my son, Dr Sasha, has joined ESCC and also practises CBP.
Together, we share a passion for:
- posture correction
- spinal rehabilitation
- long-term spinal health
- evidence-informed chiropractic care
One of my biggest hopes for the future is to see more chiropractors in Australia trained in CBP so more people can access this type of care.
